The Lord Mayor of Manchester Councillor Paul Murphy OBE, marked and started of Manchester’s official celebration for Armed Forces Day with the raising of the armed forces flag at Manchester Town Hall…reports Asian Lite.
The Lord Mayor was accompanied by Edith Conn OBE, Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Lieutenant Colonel Lindsey Forbes, and Regimental Sergeant Major Matthew Hardman (103 Regiment) as the flag was hosted and flown over Albert Square.
Manchester joined cities across the country who are all flying the armed forces flag in the run up to Armed Forces Day this weekend.
The celebrations for Armed Forces Day will conclude on Saturday 27 June in St Peter’s Square with a Veterans Parade of Standards at 11.30 am and a host of family friendly activities from 11am-4pm.
