DVD on ophthalmology launched in Wales

On the occasion of his visit to address the Ophthalmologists from across Wales who attended an event at the Welsh Assembly, Mr Vaughan Gething, the Welsh Deputy Minister of Health launched a DVD “Ophthalmology for Medical Students” produced by Mr Nikhil Kaushik, Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital, recently.

The event was held to affirm the Welsh Government’s commitment to improving outcomes in the Hospital Eye Service in Wales.

According to the delegates present at the meeting, the minister expressed hope that the educational DVD, will prove valuable for Medical Students, and thanked the Ophthalmologists for their continued support in the field of undergraduate education, as well as delivering high quality service in the face of ever increasing demands on the speciality.

Officials from the Welsh government and Prof Caroline MacEwen, the President of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists also attended the event.

Nikhil Kaushik also presented the minister with a copy of his documentary “Looking back to look to the future”, wherein he explores the legacy of Operation Enduring Freedom, and argues that the mission will be accomplished by continuation of British involvement in Afghanistan, but with a shift in focus on the health of the nation, and recovering from the trauma of a prolonged war.
