Manchester Police seize counterfeit clothing

Manchester Police have seized over £1 million worth of counterfeit clothing in the Strangeways area of the city.

Officers from GMP’s North Manchester Neighbourhood Policing team, with help from the Fire Service, raided four shops on Lockett Street yesterday, Wednesday 3 September 2014.

Counterfeit items seized included, a range of handbags branded ‘Louis Vitton’, ‘Chenelle’, ‘Mulberry’ and perfumes named ‘Pacco Rabanne’ and ‘Jean Paul Gautier’, as well as fake Ugg boots and sunglasses.

Sergeant Andrew Holvey of the Neighbourhood policing team said: “I would like to thank members of the community for providing us with valuable intelligence which enabled the raids.

“We are aware this type of crime causes a lot of harm to legitimate businesses and believe this action will be a significant hit to the people that are involved in this type of crime.

“We acted on information received from local businesses and residents and I hope this shows our determination to crack down on this type of crime.

“I would like to reassure the local businesses and residents that we will continue to target these people to ensure a safer community.”
