British newspapers today carried lead stories on the US conviction of London cleric Abu Hamza and the brewing mortgage crisis. The Guardian, Daily Mail, Daily Express, The Times and The Telegraph and Daily Mirror carried stories on Hamza and Mortgage issue.
The Times said Hamza, the former Imam of Finsbury Park mosque in north London, was described by prosecutors as a “trainer of terrorists”.
The Independent focuses on the cost of owning a home amid concerns about the potential effect of an interest rate rise. It says 2.3 million people will struggle to afford their repayments.
