Amazon is in war with UK publishers as it seeks to secure more advantageous terms.
According to BBC, the web giant wants the right to print books itself if publishers fail to provide adequate stock, and wants publishers to match any pricing deals it offers to other distributers.
A mid-sized firm accused Amazon of “bullying,” and said that the company was destroying the industry.
Trade magazine the Bookseller broke the news that Seattle-based company had introduced several clauses in its new contract proposals to UK publishers who work independently.
Two of the main clauses were that Amazon would have the right to print its own copies of a book if a publisher runs out of stock, and, it would do by using it “”print-on-demand” equipment”.
Amazon has not commented on the issue.
