UAE pays tribute to GCC creators

On the 33rd anniversary of Cooperation Council for Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), the UAE Federal National Council (FNC) issued a statement paying tribute to the leaders of GCC member countries who launched the pan-Gulf entity in Abu Dhabi on May 25, 1981. FNC lauded the leaders’ far-sighted vision, sincere determination and faith in the vital role that GCC plays in the service of their countries’ future.

Khalifa Bahrain 1The FNC statement on the occasion greeted the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and other GCC leaders and expressed its best wishes for further progress, prosperity and integration for the peoples of the region in the framework of a unified vision and a common destiny.

FNC, in particular, paid tribute to the UAE’s founding father late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who was the first to seek the establishment of GCC following his success in unifying his country’s emirates into a solid federation.

“GCC has been able to overcome several hurdles, made remarkable achievements, established strong relations with the rest of the world and made an effective and positive contribution to the security and stability of the region.”

The UAE has always been at the forefront of supporters of the march of GCC.
