Etihad Airways has introduced Edufly, a special program tailor-made to the needs of students travelling from India to pursue their studies abroad.
Eyeing the large Indian student community aspiring for admissions in universities across the US and UK, gulf airline Etihad on Tuesday announced a special programme which allows an additional baggage of 10 kg and other benefits, ahead of the academic session.
The programme ‘Edufly’ will commence from June 1 and will remain in effect till September 30, Etihad Airways said in a release. Under the EduFly programme, students will receive an extra 10 kg baggage allowance when travelling to the UK and Europe, and one additional piece of luggage (upto 23 kg in weight) when travelling to the US, Etihad said.
The offer will be available for students travelling from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Kochi to a number of Etihad Airways destinations across the US and Europe, including Washington, New York, Chicago, London, Frankfurt, Paris, Moscow and Athens, the release said.
“Edufly is a special programme tailor-made to the needs of students travelling from India to pursue their studies abroad. The programme aims at offering them a range of special rewards and benefits and also easing some of the difficulties during the travel,” Etihad Airways General Manager in India Neerja Bhatia said.
Besides extra baggage, the scheme also offers other benefits from the airline partners including Matrix International and Axis Bank. Matrix International will offer free 1 GB data for the first month for students in the UK, 50 per cent discount on the first month of rental when purchasing a student connection in the US and free talk-time worth Rs 250 for students buying a Matrix global card in Russia, the release said.
Also as part of the programme, Axis Bank will offer preferential exchange rates and will waive off issuance fees on all Axis Bank Travel Currency Cards issued to students, it said.
