Days before the visit of Indian Foreign Secretary S.Jaishankar, Pakistan Army Chief Gen.Raheel Sharif warned India of a “befitting response” to any provocation along the Line of Control (LoC).
“Let there be no doubt that any provocation along LoC and Working Boundary would meet a befitting response,” he said .
The army chief was speaking during his visit to the areas near the Working Boundary (as Pakistan refers to the international border) in Sialkot, which have been among the most affected by recent cross border firing, the director general of Inter Service Public Relations said in a series of tweets.
During his visit, the army chief was briefed about the latest security situation in the area.
Earlier Thursday, the foreign office said that it would raise all issues with the Indian top diplomat during his visit to Islamabad.
Jaishankar will arrive here on a two-day visit March 3, seven months after India cancelled foreign secretary-level talks with Pakistan after the latter’s envoy in New Delhi held consultations with Kashmiri separatists.
