Goa is Modi’s ‘good luck charm’

Modi chooses ‘good luck charm’ Goa for his first official visit as Prime Minister on June 14 , says a report at www.targetgoa.com

Goa is special to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is the first state he will visit as Prime Minister. There is much excitement in the state goverment today.  Modi will sail on INS Vikramaditya, the largest warship of the Indian Navy, off the coast of Goa on June 14. He will dedicate the warship to the nation on that day.

modiHe will inaugurate the Indian Navy’s Shore Based Test Facility (SBTF), at the INS Hansa airbase. The SBTF has been built to train the pilots of MIG29K fighter planes which will be attached to the INS Vikramaditya aircraft carrier.

Modi will lay the foundation stone for building the third Mandovi Bridge which will be built between the two existing bridges. This one will be meant for vehicles travelling at speed. A flyover will take this bridge to the top of the Porvorim slope bypassing the bottlenecks at the Porvorim end of the Mandovi bridges.

There is much excitement in the BJP rank and file, but Manohar Parrikar who visited Delhi cannot hide his glee. Goa is important to Modi since he started out his campaign for the country from Goa. He comes full circle to pay his respects to the state and according to Chief Minister Parrikar, Modi will make announcements for this tiny state which he says has been lucky for the BJP. The last time there was a BJP(Parrikar) government in Goa,  the NDA ruled at the centre. Parrikar swept the Assembly polls in 2012. Goa turned out lucky for Modi too. He’s coming to Goa to pay his respects.

Modi would address BJP workers at Dr Shama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Taleigao plateau, on June 14.
