Cheating is just that. Cheating. Sarita Devi was not a sore loser when she refused her medal. She was a sore winner and rightfully so. Even her opponent agreed she had been thrashed by Sarita. That no Indian official came to make the protest is also par for the course. They must have been too busy shopping. Shame on them all. They should be under inquiry as to why they failed in their duty. They lost India a gold. And why are we, the Indian people so accepting of being robbed.
And then we have AIBA delegate David Francis threatening to take action against Sarita for her conduct on the podium. Mr Francis, you know what, go do something impolite to yourself. If you and your association had the guts you would have indicted those cheating judges and and protested on this sportswoman’s behalf. That is what the Boxing Association is for.
Did you watch the match? She thrashed Park. It was so one-sided that the ref even considered stopping the match. What is the AIBA doing about that?
Does a host nation have the right to brownie points? Full marks to Park for accepting she had lost and even offering to give Sarita the gold medal and humbling the cheats.
What is the chef de mission doing about it? Where are all the coaches and managers and those blazered twits who spend a fortune to mess up Indian sport?
In this new transparent Modi regime let’s make them culpable for their acts of omission. They are gutless sods.
It is so typical the moment Mary Kom won they flooded to be with her and behaved as if they were responsible for her victory.
Give Sarita Devi her gold medal, she won it hands down, gloves up, stop the charade or let the medal lie on the floor. Who gives a toss.
Like I said, an error is okay, but cheating is cheating and this is just that.
Why should she not have shown her disgust. I would.
