Commissioner of India to the UK Mr Ranjan Mathai has hosted a cocktail reception at Kensington Palace Gardens to celebrate 8thAnnual Asian Cup Polo Day and to welcome Royal Jaipur Polo team led by Maharaj Narendra Singh, son-in-law of late Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh of Jaipur.
Sawai Bhawani Singh has immortalised the Royal family’s relation with Polo by forming Federation of International Polo (FIP). Speaking on the occasion, Narendra Singh briefed about the 1000 year tradition of Polo and how it went on to become a World Cup game. He said that he was proud that the World Cup Polo has come to be known as Jaipur World Cup, the trophy of which was instituted by late Maharaja Bhawani Singh. Narendra Singh’s young son is also playing with him in the game in the UK, and it is for the time in history that a father and son are playing together in the same game. Narendra Singh is the FIP ambassador from India.
