Forbes Magazine rankings reveal that Big B and Salman come in at 71st place with earnings of just over £21 million whilst Akshay Kumar recognised as a smart entrepreneur and a hard working actor was ranked 76th with just under £21 million.

Dhoni is ranked 82nd with £19.7 million.

Forbes this year compiled the rankings regardless of nationality. Previously it would recognise celebrities from the West.

Boxer Floyd Mayweather who made more than £200 million on the back of his “fight of the century” with Manny Pacquiao came in at second place with more than £110 million.

Some critics however have questioned Forbes methodology while they welcome its “international” outlook, after Shah Rukh Khan – who is said to be the world’s second wealthiest actor did not feature on the list.
