Bank of Baroda Staff Vote to Join Unite the Union

Unite, the trade union for UK bank workers, has today welcomed members from the Bank of Baroda Staff Association, following their vote to merge with the union….reports AsianLite News.

bank ok barodaThe Bank of Baroda is one of India’s largest public sector banks. The century old bank is the second largest in India and has ten branches across the UK, in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Leicester.
 
Sachi Pillai, general secretary of the Staff Association, said:
“By voting to join forces with Unite, members from the Bank of Baroda are proud to stand alongside finance workers from across the banking industry.
“The issues which challenge us in the workplace are shared across the industry and so it is together that we must face them.”
Gail Cartmail, Unite assistant general secretary, said:
“Unite is proud to welcome members from India’s international bank. Unite will support Staff Association members to ensure the Bank of Baroda continues to serve both its dedicated staff and the Indian communities across the UK who rely on it.”
Following a successful ballot of the membership, the Staff Association’s recognition and all previously negotiated agreements have been transferred to Unite.
Following the signing of a merger agreement Unite will now support Baroda members on an individual and collective basis on issues such as pay, terms and conditions.
